How Rebecca finds the time to write…
That is a question I get a lot. The more people get to know me, the more they seem to ask that question. I don’t know if I have an answer. It just happens.
I don’t have a 9-5 job so that helps. I work from home as a freelance writer and online business owner. I have three kids ages 16, 14, and 11 who have me running quite a bit. I run five online sites with two of them as full businesses. Oh, and currently I am going back to school to get my history and English degree. So, how do
I find the time to write?
I make it happen.
I am a big list person. I have to or I’d forget over half of what I have to get done. I list out first all the areas of my life and then put at least five things down under each that need to get done. Then I pull the most important one and start working on it. Between every couple of tasks, I stop and write at least a hundred words on a story. It could be any story. I’m currently working on twelve at one time. The one I write on depends on my goals. I have goals for each story, and I focus on it until I meet the goal and then move on to another story.
It has to be something you make time for. There are days I don’t get to do more than write for pay or blog posts, but they are few and far between. My muse won’t let me ignore it. She’ll pester me and pester me until I get the writing done.
Though now that I think about it, school is about over. I don’t know what I’ll do then. I might have to escape to the library or the local coffee shop to find the time to write. Because family won’t let you.
